Cairo tours that start at the bazaar
Most Cairo tours here follow one line: Khan el-Khalili, then Al-Muizz Street from Bab al-Futuh to Bab Zuweila, then a second half day for the Citadel and the mosques around it. A guided tour takes care of the order and the tickets, and a guide can explain buildings that have no signs.
Look at three things before you book: which stops are included, whether entrance tickets are part of the price, and the meeting point. A tour price does not always cover monument tickets, and these are separate products with their own prices.

Our picks: Cairo tours with the bazaar
Old Cairo on foot, the Citadel day, Coptic Cairo, a museum-and-bazaar half day and the medieval mosques. Pick by what you want besides the bazaar: churches, the Citadel or the museum.

Tour types and how they differ
What each kind of day covers.
Bazaar walk
A walk through the lanes of Khan el-Khalili with stops at the metalwork, gold and spice corners. It suits a first visit when the layout feels confusing. The Al-Hussein and Al-Azhar mosques are next door, and you pass them even if you do not go in.
Islamic Cairo on foot
This walk follows Al-Muizz Street through buildings from several periods, not only the Fatimid one, and ends near Bab Zuweila. Buildings inside the area ticket have daytime hours, so these tours run by day.
Al-Muizz Street guide โCitadel and mosques
A longer day on the Muqattam heights with the Muhammad Ali Mosque and views over the city, often joined with the Sultan Hassan complex. Individual museum rooms inside the Citadel are not guaranteed open.
Citadel guide โEvening walk
An evening tour covers the lanes and cafรฉs when the bazaar is at its liveliest. It does not open monument interiors, which keep daytime hours.
Cairo at night โCoptic Cairo
The Hanging Church, the Ben Ezra Synagogue and the Coptic Museum sit together in Old Cairo, away from the bazaar. Religious use can limit access for visitors.

A short checklist.
Tickets inside or outside the price
Ask whether monument tickets are covered. Tickets bought through the official channels (website, app or on site) are not refundable and are not replaced if lost, so be sure of your date.
Photos
Smartphone photos at monuments need no separate permit, but a drone does. Other cameras and tripods at some sights are treated separately.
Bazaar tips โDress
Cover shoulders and legs and take a headscarf for mosques.
Getting there
If you land in Cairo, arrange the airport ride first so that the tour day starts without delay.
Cairo Airport โTours of the pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum are covered by the Giza Plateau tour guide. For a Nile evening on the water see Cairo dinner cruises.
Cairo tours: frequently asked questions
How long is a Khan el-Khalili tour?
A bazaar walk takes two to three hours. Add a half day for Al-Muizz Street and Bab Zuweila, and another for the Citadel and Sultan Hassan.
Are entrance tickets included in tour prices?
It differs by tour. Read the listing for what is covered. Monument tickets such as the Citadel (EGP 550 for foreign adults) are often priced separately.
Can I do the tour on my own?
Yes. The bazaar needs no ticket, and the monuments sell tickets on site, online or in the app. A guide adds context and saves you from working out the route.
Can I visit the monuments in the evening?
Not for the interiors. The published hours for Al-Muizz Street are 09:00โ17:00. Evenings suit the lanes and cafรฉs.
Is this the official website?
No. This is an independent guide and it is not connected to any ministry, shop, tour operator or hotel.
